CARTIER TIME ART MECHANICS OF PASSION (2011)

2011: Zurich, Museum Bellerive
2011-2012 Singapore, Art Science Museum

This was the very first exhibition dedicated entirely to Cartier’s watchmaking expertise. The traveling exhibition began its journey in Zurich, then met with great success in Singapore. In a display of technical and stylistic progress, shaped and complication timepieces and mystery clocks finally appeared side by side against an elegant backdrop devised by Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka, a regular collaborator with the Maison. The exhibition also put the spotlight on contemporary fine watchmaking techniques and the expertise of master craftsmen at the Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fond, Switzerland. The Cartier laboratory showcased its innovative concept watches ID One and ID Two. The genius of traditional methods of craftsmanship used in watchmaking was honored in an exhibition room of its own. The highly informative watchmaking exhibition revealed the mysteries of this high technology to watch enthusiasts and curious lay visitors alike.
