Grain de café collection

Grain de Café

From a coffee bean, Cartier has created a solar collection of absolute elegance. Creations that combine the glamour of the 1950s French Riviera with the radiant beauty of Grace Kelly. Inspiration drawn from the heart of the Maison’s stylistic vocabulary, based on two cherished elements at Cartier: flora crafted in yellow gold and the ordinary made precious.

The film, the campaign

To pay tribute to Grace Kelly, the iconic Hollywood star, Cartier turned to American director Alex Prager whose sensitivity resonates with the codes of the collection. Thanks to her work with light, she was able to bring a decisively contemporary tone to the glamorous spirit of the 1950s, embodied by actress Elle Fanning, Global Ambassador of the Maison and face of the Grain de Café collection.

Sunshine and nothing else

Brightness, light, mobility: Grain de Café radiates a solar aura on the skin. Assembled as pendants on rings, earrings or necklaces, the coffee beans - set with diamonds, rubellite and obsidian - move with the slightest gesture in a precious rattle.

A signature jewel worn by an iconic princess

The Grain de Café design/motif first appeared in the Maison’s repertoire in 1938 under legendary Creative Director Jeanne Toussaint. It became an icon of jewellery in the 1950s, when it was adopted by newly crowned Princess Grace of Monaco, taking its aura of glamour and sophistication even further in the global imagination.

A dynamic savoir-faire

Playing with the pendants, multiplying radiance and shimmer: for the jewellers, the objective was to combine mobility and sensuality. The movement of endlessly sparkling clusters. The sensuality of materials is an invitation to touch. 30 craftsmen participated in the creation of this collection and more than 60 prototypes were required.
