MUSÉE NATIONAL DES ARTS ASIATIQUES – GUIMET, PARIS
Jade, from Emperors to Art Deco
Exhibition from 19 October 2016 to 16 January 2017
Cartier presents twenty-six exceptional pieces from its collection as part of an exhibition on the jade of emperors being held at the Musée National des Arts Asiatiques - Guimet. This exhibition, including an exceptional loan from the National Palace Museum in Taipei, tracks 8,000 years of Chinese history through the production, use and exchange with the West of a gem that has been sought after for millennia: jade. This fine stone was introduced into Cartier designs at the beginning of the 20th century. The incredible Barbara Hutton necklace, made up of twenty-seven imperial jade beads, is an exceptional example.
