VICTORIA & ALBERT MUSEUM, DUNDEE (SCOTLAND)
Ocean Liners: Speed and Style
Exhibition from September 15, 2018, through February 24, 2019
The Cartier Collection is delighted to be a part of the inaugural exhibition at V&A Dundee, the first museum of design in Scotland and the first V&A to open outside London in September 2018. The Ocean Liners: Speed & Style exhibition is presented in Dundee after its resounding success in Salem, near Boston, and in London, where it was shown previously. Ocean Liners plunges visitors into the opulent world of 20th-century transatlantic ocean liners and their elegant passengers. Co-organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum of London and the Peabody Essex Museum of Salem, it is the first exhibition to explore the design and cultural impact of the ocean liner on an international scale. The Cartier Collection has lent a tiara made of natural pearls and diamonds that belonged to Lady Marguerite Allan, a treasure that survived the tragic wreck of the Lusitania in 1915.
